This project is about creating a heliostat: a moveable mirror that tracks with the sun so that the reflection is constantly pointed at one place.
The most commonly known examples are those big solar towers out in the desert that are used for generating electricity. Other examples are reflective “flowers” for lighting and simple mirrors.
The work load for this project is:
1. Get Enthusiastic. Done!
2. Build a prototype:
a. Build a two axis pan/tilt control system for small mirror. Done!
b. Connect to Raspberry Pi for motor control.
c. Put the solar calculations the in the Pi for basic tracking.
d. Connect the Pi to LAN for manual/remote control.
e. Tunnel through FreeLuna for Internet access.
